PARED BACK & NORDIC SENSIBILITY AT NORTHSHORE
4 Room Apartment I Northshore Drive
The design of this apartment focuses on an inimitably sleek-yet-cozy aesthetic which continues to enamor those of us with a soft spot for minimalism. Essentially Scandinavian, the brief was to create an apartment with clean, simple, and most of all functional spaces for a young family of three.
The hallmarks of Scandinavian design reflects in this apartment, with an airy, open space with white walls, clean lines, and minimal clutter. Subtle streaks of minimalism without being too serious, the setting of this Scandinavian interior focuses more on serenity with an appreciation for organic materials and natural light bringing in a human touch to the design. An interesting request and detail include a less common television placement in the dining area , the heart and life of the home.
Alongside the main entrance, a fully customised pegboard wall and artificial plant feature adorns the living wall, simultaneously concealing the unsightly bomb shelter and offers a solution where function is key. The pegs and shelves can be re-arranged and re-decorated with the seasons, and offers an interesting talking point for friends and family. From the lovely folks at Kathy’s Cove, a handcrafted and sustainable rattan furniture store, a Howard's Moving Books & Toys Storage Truck is now the go to toy for a young bright child. Also another interesting detail in the bedrooms, a concealed entrance linking the kid’s bedroom to the master bedroom. To blend the look seamlessly, the concealed entrance was designed as part of the wardrobe from the master bedroom and as a writable and magnetic white board in the kid’s bedroom.
We hope to always create designs and interiors by combining elements that are easily recognisable to the eye so we connect with them. A scandinavian touch goes a long way after all and our personal take is that this timeless design will remain a favourite in Singaporean homes for the years to come.
